Innovative, non-invasive cancer care in five treatments or less.
The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Jefferson Health provides patients with the latest, leading-edge stereotactic radiosurgery system available for cancer treatment. Our resources include powerful technologies designed for accurate, aggressive, comfortable and safe cancer treatments without incisions or the need for patients to recover in the hospital.
Leading-edge clinical treatment: Our experts use stereotactic radiosurgery systems, which are available throughout the community, (pictured above at our Asplundh Cancer Pavilion) to treat tumors.
Stereotactic radiosurgery isn’t “surgery” in the traditional sense.
For starters, these treatments can be performed safely and effectively on patients who wouldn't be able to withstand traditional forms surgery. This advanced radiosurgery technology pinpoints tumors and quickly delivers precise radiation therapy with fewer treatment sessions.
Stereotactic radiosurgery treats tumors in a variety of locations, including lungs, prostate, brain stem, spinal cord and liver. Because they're performed on an outpatient basis, these procedures offer shorter treatment time and a dramatically lower recovery period.
Leaders in the field of minimally invasive surgery.
As one of only 70 National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers in the nation, we were the first in the region to offer stereotactic radiosurgery technology.
Our care team can help guide you and your loved one with understanding these technologies and help decide the best approach for treatment.
