JHS and FHCS Sign Realignment Agreement

November 20, 2008: The Board of Jefferson Health System (“JHS”) has approved and the parties have signed a Realignment Agreement with Frankford Health Care System (“FHCS”).

Under the Agreement, FHCS will remain closely affiliated with JHS, but will no longer be a Member of the System.  Closing on the realignment requires regulatory approval, and therefore the changes in FHCS governance are not expected to become effective before the end of 2008.

The decision to realign came after thorough reviews by both organizations, which resulted in the determination that FHCS and JHS could best serve their respective communities as independent organizations which maintain substantial business and clinical ties.  The realignment will have no effect on the services provided by FHCS to its patients.

FHCS operates Frankford Hospital, Frankford Hospital - Torresdale, and Frankford Hospital - Bucks County.  The other Members of JHS are Main Line Health, Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital.
